Setting

The extensive secure gardens and orchard offer the perfect place to relax and enjoy a holiday with family and friends. Facing the canal, the house has a large raised deck with soft seating and dining area where you can chill and watch the boats go by. Or have a sing-song and warm yourselves round the fire pit where you will find rustic log seating and a Japanese plate BBQ. Indulge yourselves in the large wood-fired hot tub under its own fairy pagoda just waiting for you to immerse yourself and relax.

Your ACCOMMODATION

A cosy sitting room with a log burner provides the perfect place to relax after a hard day on the hill, sampling whisky, playing golf or exploring the many local places of interest. Freeview Sat, Smart TV, DVD player and plenty of DVDs for all the family are provided.  There is also a stereo docking system and a good selection of board games, cards and proper old-fashioned books!

A spacious open-plan kitchen /diner with views to the canal and the hills is fully equipped and offers the perfect place to cook up a storm and entertain family and friends. Amenities include:  juicer, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, Espresso Coffee machine and a washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility areas.

The table sits up to 8 and there is also a breakfast bar and an electric wood burning effect stove.

The house has 4 spacious bedrooms. On the ground floor, a king-size bedroom looks out over the hills. Upstairs two king bedrooms and a twin have fabulous views over the canal and hills.

All linen and bedding is high quality Egyptian cotton from Tielle Loves Luxury as recommended by House and Garden Magazine and Country Life and is also used by many 5* hotels. The bedding is hypoallergenic

There are 3 bathrooms; a shower room on the ground floor and a spacious bathroom and separate shower room upstairs.

All bathrooms are supplied with luxury local toiletries from the Highland Soap Company.

Separate towels are supplied for those who fancy a dip in the Loch or hot tub.

Children and up to two pets welcome. Stair gates and high chairs and cots are available on request.

Where You’ll Be

The farmhouse is midway between the city of Inverness and Loch Ness and, despite its remote location, is only 25 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from the nearest train station.

Local pubs, restaurants and shops are a 5 minute drive away or can also be accessed by foot or bike from the towpath at the bottom of the garden which will take you into Inverness or up to Dochgarroch, the gateway to Loch Ness where cruises depart up the Loch several times a day.

A farm shop (Farm Ness) on the estate supplies locally grown and sourced vegetables and meat as well as other delicacies.

There are several famous golf courses within a ½ hour drive and, of course, the area abounds with historic castles, whisky distilleries and fabulous walks and cycle paths not only along the canal, but also on the Great Glen Way which runs behind the property. Canoeing, leisure cruises, horse-riding and many other amenities are also right on the doorstep. In addition, for the more retail minded, woollen mills, tweed and cashmere shops are all over the area.

A comprehensive house manual in the cottage details suggestions for day trips, visitor attractions, shops, restaurants etc as well as emergency numbers that you might need during your stay.

  • Pets are allowed but please notify in advance

Additional rules

  • Non-breakable table and glassware to be used in outside areas
  • Dogs are welcome but not allowed on furniture or beds. All dog waste must be disposed of and we have a dog poo composter in the garden.
  • It is also important to keep in mind that outside the fenced areas there may well be livestock – usually sheep -so outside the garden dogs should be kept on a lead. The garden gate must be kept shut.
