Simply perfect in every way. The house is beautiful, the location wonderful - special memories were made that will be cherished forever. The house is so well appointed, with everything you need in a home away from home. You need not look far, as things like books, games, utensils, table wear, and basic information is logically located and perfectly placed. The host was exceptional, both in the lead up to and during our stay. We hope to go back some day.
Everything you need and more! All 7 of us loved Gigina place. The pictures do not give it justice of how beautiful, spacious and peaceful the place is. And the hot tub was phenomenon, you have to heat it up yourself using fire logs but the experience of doing it yourself is an achievement. All instructions for the use of all amenities are clearly given/written. The location is fantastic. Easy short drive to Inverness City or a beautiful tranquil, full of nature walk 50mins to the city. And Lochness is justess than 15mins drive!! Highly recommend!
Absoultely fantastic stay and one of the greatest places to stay if you are visiting the Highlands. Surrounded by plush green places and River Ness at the backyard of the property makes it a perfect spot to stay. The property is more better than any 7 Star hotel. We had everything available in the property including Hot Tub, DVDs, Childrens Books, Games, BBQ and much more. Highly recommended if you are visiting Inverness with your family.
We absolutely loved this house. So comfortable and clean and plenty of space for our group of 7. Lovely bedding and towels and the soap was so lovely we’re placing an order for ourselves!
The hot tub was an added bonus and the outdoor space will be great if you get the weather. Location brilliant for walks along the canal plus amazing scenery with Loch Ness on the doorstep.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the highlands.
We’ve had an amazing time at this beautiful house and wouldn’t hesitate to return, and to recommend. Gigina was the perfect host - communication was outstanding and she provided extra baby equipment which was much appreciated. The house is clean, comfortable and spacious with everything needed for a large family. The welcome treats were lovely and we made good use of the selection of games. We didn’t spot Nessie so will be back! Many thanks Gigina.
This place was absolutely perfect. It is right by the Caledonian Canal, a 10-15min drive from town yet totally secluded. It’s hard to say what we loved most - the spacious house, perfect cleanliness, lovely bedlinen/towels, or the peaceful location. Our dog also had the time of his life in the private garden. Gigina was a great host and always responded within minutes. Stay here if you can and you won’t regret it.
We have just returned from the most amazing water front Farmhouse near Inverness. The house itself is beautiful inside and out with everything anyone could need. The weather was cold outside but the house was warm and cosy, especially with the wood burner in the lounge. You have access to the Caledonian Canal from the bottom of garden which gives lots of walking opportunities. Its perfectly positioned for exploring the area. We hope to return its certainly one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in.
Great house. Nice and clean with a modern kitchen, well equipped with everything you may need for a short break away. The house is deceptively large with ample accommodation and 7 of us ended up staying comfortably for a long weekend away. Good location with nice walks along the canal although also relatively close to the city centre approx 5-10 min drive to Inverness city centre. Huge garden which was great for our dog who loved it. Nice touch with a welcome pack with provisions provided by the host. Good communication. Would recommend a stay here!
We were a family of 10 and had a great 4 night stay at the Highland retreat. We all wished it could have been longer. The house was perfectly clean and we appreciated the small touches like the welcome basket and fresh flowers. The beds too were very comfy! The location is perfect being completely remote in its own grounds next to the canal but within a 5 minute drive to Inverness. There was nothing we could complain about. I have already recommended the house to friends and family.
This is a totally charming, wonderful place to stay. I can't even list everything we enjoyed: the location, the pastoral setting, the home is the perfect mix of character and modern amenities, the kitchen has everything you need, there was coffee, rolls, eggs and milk to start us out, the views, the firepit, the lovely deck facing the canal, the walking path along the canal, the steam shower! We would have stayed longer if we could and hope to be back again some day.
Gigina is a FANTASTIC host, speedy responses and always able to help. Lovely lady! The house is in the most beautiful little spot on the canal surrounded by characteristic farmers fields. The hay bales, crops, local deer, wildlife and farm animals just add to the quaintest idyllic home. You will need a car to get to most places however there is a great spot within walking distance to shop/eat at. Gigina has kindly detailed a range of things to see and do in the welcome pack. The house is clean and cosy 🙂
This place is amazing!
You get a really great host in Giginia. The location is so well situated to explore both Inverness and its surrounding countryside. The proximity to the canal means easy, gentle walks are right on the doorstep; whilst a short drive in almost any direction gives countless options for scenic hikes. And what better than to wake up and see cattle, sheep, deer, hares and pheasants roaming around the garden? Highly recommend this place for a holiday destination!
We had a wonderful time at Gigina’s place. A superbly located cottage in such a tranquil and picturesque setting. The house itself is sparklingly clean and extremely well equipped with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Gigina’s communication was excellent and she thought of lovely touches to welcome guests; fresh flowers and newly picked apples and plums from the orchard were much appreciated. 5 star standard towels, bed linen and Highland Soap Company toiletries added to the experience. All in all a fabulous place to stay, which I would highly recommend to others.
5 mins outside Inverness but feels like the middle of nowhere (in a good way). The house is very well equipped and very comfortable from the cozy living room to the spacious kitchen. The garden is amazing. The kids and the dog loved it. Having the canal at the bottom of the garden was also ideal. Regular sightings of deer and buzzards were an added bonus. If you want a secluded country retreat with the convenience of being close to a city this is the place for you. We had a great time and would definitely return.
Gigina was an excellent host, providing very clear information up front and responding quickly to our questions/requests (e.g. for a high chair and stair gates). The location was a wonderful escape for my family and I, the kids loved our walks and bike rides along the Caledonian Canal (accessible from the bottom of the garden!) including foraging for wild raspberries and cherries - yum! The house met all of our needs and had a good range of books, board games and DVDs for all ages to enjoy. We'd definitely visit again if we are back in the region.
This charming farmhouse had everything you can possibly require for a perfect getaway in the highlands. Location is perfect to explore the best places in Inverness. The views from the property were just magical. Good choice of restaurants, bars and supermarkets within 5-10min drive. The pathway along the canal (accessible from the property) is stunning for walks. Gigina had quite a few thoughtful touches to make you feel comfortable. She was always there to answer any questions. All in all, cannot find anything to fault. Thanks you Gigina for being a wonderful host.
Where do I start! This farmhouse was everything my family needed and more. Beautifully decorated, spotless, spacious (both inside and out) and it really felt like home. The house itself was amazing, a stunning kitchen diner and a lovely, cosy living room where we took advantage of the log burner on the chilly days. The bedrooms were all extremely spacious as were the bathrooms. The enclosed garden was massive and immaculately kept, our two dogs adored the space, as did we! Gigina was an excellent host, quick to reply with any questions and even left a lovely care package with bread, milk, eggs etc. Cannot fault at all and my family and I have already decided we will be returning next year. Thank you Gigina!
We stayed at Gigina's home for 10 days and it really felt special the moment we walked in. After 10 days it felt very much 'home from home'. It wasn't the usual 'beautiful scenery' or 'great location' that exceeded our expectations, although beautiful scenery and a great location is what we experienced... no it was the things that often many properties forget to include or consider important.. things like soft fluffy towels, copious amounts of hot water, a well stocked kitchen, cleanliness which went above and beyond. Small touches such as Sweet peas in and around the house, a food gift box and a bucket full of homegrown tomatoes waiting for us on arrival were all appreciated and helped make our stay super special. This is a very special place to stay. Gigina was a great host. Highly recommended (something I rarely say).
Gorgeous house in a huge garden by the canal. Lovely inside, very spacious and clean. Snuggly wood burner in the sitting room. Love the unusual lamps. Big dining table perfect for family meals and board games. The multiple bathrooms were great. We didnt bother working out the fancy shower but it looks good! We just had it on normal shower and it was v powerful and there was as always hot water. We saw lots of birds, and deer in the garden. Enjoyed watching the boats go by... its an easy 6km run down to the canal lock and back. It rained most of the time we were otherwise we definitely would have had a fire in the firepit. Lots of wood was provided. Nice big fridge. I think the only negative i can think of is that the beds are very soft which wasnt great for my back. But mattress firmness is personal preference so i guess you cant please everyone. All in all, it was a really lovely stay and we would recommend it without hesitation. ?
If we could give Gigina's property six stars we would!! A beautiful, lovely presented, comfortable cozy house with all of the modern amenities in an absolutely beautiful location, which feels remote but is only 10 minutes drive from the centre of Inverness - we also had deer, hares and grouse in and around the garden most days which was amazing. We're a family of 6 with a dog and the house was more than big enough to cater for all of us and as for the grounds, wow! Gigina was also very kind enough to leave us a welcome pack full of fresh fruits and herbs from the garden and bread, milk, butter, jam etc. for breakfast, which was a really nice touch. The house overlooks the Caledonian canal and is surrounded by quiet country lanes which provides all of the walking and exploring opportunities you would ever need also means you can safely, bike ride, run and walk with the kids and also get to Inverness without using your car. In short, the house and surrounding countryside was sensational and with 6 days of brilliant weather made it one of the best holidays we have had in a very long time.
We had a lovely few days at this house. It really is a very special place to stay. The location is wonderfully remote, while still being within easy reaching distance of absolutely everything that you'd need. It's a great base for exploring some of the most beautiful places that I've ever seen. The house itself is superbly equipped, with absolutely everything that you'd need, so you don't need to bring much at all and the welcome hamper and fresh cut flowers around the house were a lovely surpise when we arrived. It is incredibly homely and comfortable and we felt completely relaxed as soon as we stepped in the front door. It was also immaculately clean. The setting is beautiful, there is so much space outside and the views are outstanding. The garden is huge and fully enclosed so the dog had the time of his life too! We felt so very lucky to have found this place and to have been able to stay there and we'll certainly try to come back again soon.
Fantasic place to stay. The space is amazing! Spotlessly clean, everything you need in the kitchen is supplied. Beds comfortable. Nice living room which is cosy in the evenings to watch a film. Endless supply of hot water and good water pressure after a day out. A welcome basket on arrival. The firepit area is lovely and we have great fun using the oil drum BBQ. Sat out on the decking in the mornings having breakfast watching the boats going by on the Caledonian Canal. Lovely clean and modern café, 20 min walk up the canal. where you can also pick up a tour boat (Jacobite Cruises) for Loch Ness. We spotted a red squirrel and at dusk some deer walking in the field at the front of the property. Our dog loved the garden and we could relax knowing that it had a secure fence all the way around the property. The only downside was closing the front door on our final day....
We needed a place large enough for my family, my sisters, grandparents and three girls all under four. This house more than delivered. The grounds are so quiet and peaceful and most importantly, completely safe. The girls had a lot of freedom and space to run around. The house is beautiful, very high spec finish and very well equipped. The showers in particular are incredible. It is even better than the pictures show. I was very impressed with this place, the location, the cleanliness, the amenities, the way it was run. Superb in every way. 100%, 10/10, Five Golden Stars, take your pick, it deserves them all.
What a perfect spot! Our family of seven fit perfectly and had the most amazing time! The cottage is spacious, well decorated, and the kitchen was stocked with all the essentials and more! The kids loved the hot tub and fire pit! They roamed around the yard playing, singing and waving at all the boats that passed through the canal. The adults also enjoyed the hot tub! It’s a peaceful setting and we had the pleasure of seeing many deer, sheep and cows! To say we fell in love is an understatement! We highly recommend this cottage for anyone wanting to get away and be one with Scotland!
My family and I have stayed at some amazing AirBnb's over the years. However, there is something about this particular home's energy that no other location has offered. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but the space feels absolutely sacred. Maybe it was the friendly livestock nextdoor who came to visit each day, or the peaceful canal in front of the garden...or the wildlife that we were surrounded by. But this was my favorite place I've stayed, ever, and is thoroughly cozy inside and out. The home is immaculate, and was the perfect space for our family of five. We were excited to come home after long day trips of sight-seeing. The utilities were all new, the beds were super comfy, and the bathrooms were newly re-done as well. Walking along the path on the canal felt very private, too. We truly hope to return in the future!!
Gigina's home is truly amazing. The location is simply perfect--peace and tranquility right on the doorstep of amenities in Inverness. The home is exactly as described, but only better! Indeed the linens and towels were luxurious, and the home so very clean. Our family of 7 had ample room to cook, eat, sleep, daydream and relax. The welcome gifts were truly appreciated, as was the information binder with all the details for appliance usage and locations of helpful resources nearby. Gigina was always quick to respond to our many questions. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay a month!!! We did not want to leave!! Thank-you again Gigina for all your efforts in providing this sanctuary.
One of the best Air BnBs we have ever stayed in! Only wish we were still there! I’ve never stayed somewhere that is so tranquil and private whilst also being so close to everything you need. We stayed with a group of 7 friends plus our 18 month old daughter. She loved running around in the huge garden and walking through the gates straight on to the canal path. The house also had a cot and high chair, which was so helpful! The house has everything you need, including big fluffy towels, robes for after the hot tub and beautiful Highland Soap Company soap in all the bathrooms. The most special part of our trip was seeing a group of stags cross the garden as we were eating dinner. Simply magic. All of us hope to be able to stay again soon. Thank you Gigina!
If you are reading this, just book this amazing Airbnb. Every little detail is perfectly thought out and the location couldn’t be more perfect for a relaxing stay. We are already planning our next trip back! The canal at the bottom of the garden is wonderful and the outdoor space offers so many possibilities with fire pits and hot tubs. The house is beautiful, and very much lives up to the photos. The additional touches, such as fresh herbs, flowers and croissants were very much appreciated and Giginia was an excellent and helpful host who communicated swiftly. If you’re looking for a quiet place 10 minutes away from all the hubbub, then this is your place!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dunain Croy Farm House. Only wished we had more time to explore the canal path, rent some bikes and relax in the hot tub. The location is private and peaceful but within an easy distance of the city and lots of great sites nearby. The farmhouse gave us the feeling of living in the Scottish countryside. There was plenty of room for the five of us to spread out, get ready and enjoy meals together. There are all the amenities you need and a couple that are bonus (like the hot tub that stays hot for a surprisingly long time). There is also an excellent instruction book with everything from where to eat to how to work the range that came in handy. Gigina is efficient and quick with information and responses to any outreach and because she thinks of everything and is organized, we didn't need to bug her for much. Hope to get back again before too long.
We had a wonderful stay at Gigina's cottage in beautiful, peaceful surroundings. We were a family of 7 adults and there was plenty of room for us all. We particularly enjoyed curling up on the lounge sofas in front of the log burner after exploring Inverness and Loch Ness. The adult 'children' also made good use of the hot tub even though there was snow on the ground!
The cottage was beautiful and the small touches made our stay memorable. The kitchen was very well stocked and Gigina had very kindly provided a welcome pack of eggs, milk, bread etc. and probably the best natural yoghurt that any of us had tasted. Provision of enough dishwasher tablets and soap powder for our stay was also very welcome.
I would thoroughly recommend this idyllic cottage and would not hesitate to return.
